Team Invite(Access and Roles)
Access and Roles define what users can see and do within a system, application, or platform. They are used to ensure users have the appropriate level of access required to perform their job functions while protecting sensitive data and system functionality.
Access
Access refers to the ability for a user to enter a system or use specific features, data, or resources. Access is typically granted based on business needs and is controlled through authentication and authorization mechanisms.
Key principles of access management include:
Granting access only to approved users
Limiting access to necessary systems and data
Reviewing and removing access when it is no longer required
Roles
Roles are predefined sets of permissions that determine what actions a user can perform within a system. Roles simplify access management by grouping permissions based on job functions or responsibilities.
In Zest, roles include:
Owner – Complete administrative control. At least one Owner must exist at all times.
Admin – Comprehensive access to most features, but cannot manage Owner accounts.
Technician – Standard operational access without financial or user management permissions.
How Access and Roles Work Together
Users are assigned one or more roles.
Each role contains a defined set of permissions.
Access to systems and features is granted based on the permissions associated with assigned roles.
Benefits of Using Access and Roles
Improved security and reduced risk by preventing unauthorized actions
Consistency in permission assignment across users
Simplified administration of user permissions
Support for compliance and audit requirements
